The term ‘heimsk’ means ‘stupid’ in Icelandic and comes from the word ‘heim’ meaning ‘home’. It refers to the people who never leave the safety and comfort of home and therefore not collecting knowledge and experience from the world.
As a group of five called Óheimsk, we decided to leave the confines of our nurturing island to spread our practice, archives, experiments and experiences. All of us have their roots in an underground art scene in music, visual, performance and edible arts.
We travelled to Fabryka Sztuki in Łódź and spent a week preparing a multidisciplinary art event, finalized on the 28th of September: opening with a poster exhibition and edible installation and as the evening progressed, transforming into a live music performance and a DJ set, accompanied by VJ.
Team ÓHEIMSK:
Pola Sutryk
Kosmonatka - Natka Klimowicz
knackered - Ida Schuften Juhl
Hell Moonk - Máni Sigurðsson
XWIFE - Eiríkur Rúnar Ásgeirsson

Thank you Fabryka Sztuki, Goethe Institut and Icelandic Art Center for making it happen!

Cover for The Reykjavík Grapevine
I drew the scene over Jói Kjartan´s archival photo from LungA 2008. What came from Iryna Zubenko’s interview with festival organizers was that it’s time for LungA - who is a grown up now - to leave the nurturing home and leave space for the next generations (and new ideas) to come. For me a reoccurring moment of each LungA I attended myself is the late night/early morning bonfire at the beach, so here it is, a final goodbye .

Mural for Amnesty International Iceland in Vesturbær.
This is a portrait of Aleksandra Skochilenko - a Russian activist, artist and a musician.
From Amnesty: On 31 March 2022, Aleksandra peacefully protested Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. She replaced price tags in a local supermarket in St. Petersburg with little paper labels containing facts about the invasion. Aleksandra was arrested and charged for her peaceful action. She has been held in detention ever since, in terrible conditions.
Amnesty has declared Aleksandra a prisoner of conscience.
💛This mural is a part of the Amnesty’s event ‘Þitt nafn bjargar lífi’.

Different hand gestures of the hands symobolize recognizable withtin Andrými´s community messages.

Together with my friend, Martyna Wilner we came up with an idea of making a Polish-Icelandic calendar with nudes - other than stereotypical, sexy chicks, we wanted to celebrate nudity totally as it is. We invited 4 illustrators from Poland and Iceland (and ourselves of course) to play with the theme of being naked. I proudly present our collaborative effort!
